What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp | Day Counselor & Driver position at Highland Mountain Bike Park?
We are seeking motivated and engaging Camp Counselors to join our growing camp. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting camp activities during the day, while facilitating both scheduled and emergency transportation.
You will work alongside camp leadership and coordinators to ensure that campers are safe and have activities while off bike. You will also be part of a team of drivers ready to transport injured campers for medical attention, or meet them at the hospital if they leave by ambulance. During such a trip, you would be the point of communication for the family.
Campers range in age from eight to sixteen. Day Counselors will be responsible for a group of up to ten campers during a day. Housing is available if needed, and would be in the Tilton School Dorms alongside the Overnight Counselor team campers. The Day Counselor would not have any regularly scheduled overnight.
Camp Counselor Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan activities for riding breaks.
- Ensure camper safety and monitor their activities.
- Set up and ensure recreation equipment is secure and stored properly.
- Supervise campers while they are off-bike.
- Assist with preparation of lunches once a week for the campers/staff.
- Instruct campers in daily routines and cleanup tasks.
- Follow safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.
- Attend all trainings offered by Highland pre-camp (virtual)
- Manage a group of up to 10 campers.
Camp Counselor Requirements and Qualifications
- Complete Highland Camps online training program through the ACA.
- Complete online Safesport Abuse Prevention Training
- Complete background check
- Attend Highland Camps Staff Orientation.
- First aid and CPR training and certification.
- Previous experience as a counselor-in-training, teacher, child care, or related field preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor.
- Comfortable in a team-player role.
- Strict adherence to camp philosophy, standards, and goals.
- Be engaging in all camp activities.
- Flexible in schedule as emergency driving duties may go beyond the regularly scheduled hours.
