Certified Medication Aide ( CMA )  Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Administers prescribed, routine medications, treatments and PRN medications in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Observes residents for adverse reactions to medications and reports any concerns to the supervising nurse.
  • Takes and records vital signs prior to administration of medications
  • Documents the administration of medication in the resident’s record.
  • Communicates all deviations in the delegated medication administration to the nurse.
  • Assists the nurse in providing care to residents, which includes observation and reporting of resident needs.
  • Prepares and stores medications in accordance with instructions of the manufacturer or pharmacist.
  • Maintains neat, clean, and orderly medication room(s) and medication cart(s).
