What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Highland Park Golf Course?
Collaborative Work: Works with the Golf Club's Board of Directors (report to monthly meetings)
and other staff.
- Line of Duty: Oversee the following areas but must follow the protocol of communicating
directly with the Board of Directors only in specific circumstances (such as issues, concerns, or
escalations). Other than regarding communications about the operation of a department, the
Manager will work in coordination with the Board Member in charge of the department relating
to any staff issues, problems or concerns.
Responsibilities:
Restaurant Management:
- Oversee and promote the restaurant and banquet operations, in collaboration with the restaurant chef.
- Manage menu planning, pricing, and food costs to ensure profitability.
- Handle staff training and supervision.
- Manage inventory for the restaurant.
- Ensure quality control, including health, safety, compliance (tips training), and inspections.
- Manage the restaurant's budget.
Bar Management:
- Oversee and promote the bar and banquet operations with the bar staff.
- Handle alcohol beverage and bar planning, pricing, and costs for profitability.
- Train and supervise bar staff.
- Manage inventory for the bar.
- Ensure quality control, health, safety, compliance, and inspections.
- Manage the bar's budget.
Banquet Facilities/Promotion:
- Develop strategies for promoting and advertising events (golf tournaments, private parties, and
more).
- Focus on utilizing banquet facilities effectively, especially during the off-season, in a cost-
effective and profitable way.
- Promote and manage the clubs online presence through social media channels and its website.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 years in restaurant/bar management.
- Skills: Collaborative work and proficiency with POS and related systems.
This position requires a blend of operational, strategic, and people management skills. The successful
candidate will need experience in both food and beverage service, with an ability to drive profitability
while ensuring quality and compliance in all areas.
