Building Services Custodian / Event Set Up - AM shift
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
A reliable self-starter with a detailed eye for quality and takes direction well. Candidate must be flexible to work alternate hours, primarily 1st shift at the HPUMC and Tolleson campuses. Candidate may also be assigned to the Grove Campus, the Wesley House Campus, and any future remote campuses, when needed.
Reports To: Custodial / Event Set-up Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Campus: Mockingbird, Tolleson, Grove and Wesley House.
Working Hours: This is a Full-time position that will work an anticipated 40 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: This is a full time position on the 1st shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) Monday through Thursday & Sunday. Off on Friday & Saturday
During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Complete all event room set-ups for the days listed on the schedule function sheet
- Complete all event room set ups in unoccupied spaces for the next day
- Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, to prepare facilities for events such as banquets or meetings.
- Ensure that all meeting rooms are unlocked and opened for scheduled events, and locked promptly after.
- Assist with weekly custodial supply inventory and ordering.
- Ensure the Church looks presentable and is safe for members and guests at all times.
- Clean and service rest rooms. – Mop floors, clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, and sinks, clean glass and mirrors, remove trash , check and restock soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers, polish stainless steel, wipe down and sanitize partitions.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Steam clean or shampoo carpets.
- Strip, seal, and polish floors as well as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean church offices.
- Assist in other areas as requested.
Education and Desired Skills:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years custodial experience desired
- Experience working for a church desired
Desired Skills:
- Must have good people/relational skills
- Good supervisory and motivational abilities
- Good communication and listening skills
- Must have good organizational abilities, as well as initiative
- Ability to learn new technology, applications and willingness to update skills to meet changing job conditions
- Ability to work on multiple, technical tasks
- Knowledge of good safety practices and ability to adhere to them and enforce compliance with team
- Ability to operate equipment used in industrial cleaning and maintenance
- Ability to plan and manage projects and maintain documentation
Preferred Software Experience:
- Simple - mails, letters, task orders and completion forms
- Frequent work with numbers
- Rhino Work Ticket System , Touch Point, e Space, Excel, Word, Hpumc website
- Other software as acquired by the department
