Content Manager
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
The Content Manager plays a crucial role in developing and executing our content strategy across digital and print platforms — that aligns with HPUMC’s vision and resonates with the HPUMC community. This position will collaborate with cross-functional ministries, lead content creation efforts and shape our brand’s voice. The Content Manager needs to have exceptional writing skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail to contribute to enhancing our brand presence, engaging our audience and driving business growth.
The Content Manager also creates, maintains, and manages digital content and its platforms at HPUMC. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the website and app—using a cross-departmental process aimed at keeping the content of these platforms up-to-date—as well as the overarching and strategic elements of these platforms. The ideal candidate for this position has an aptitude for making quality decisions on the spot and works well both autonomously and in a team environment.
The Content Manager will manage the church’s editorial calendar, website, HPUMC app and the Spanish app.
Key Objectives of the position:
- Developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the church’s mission, target audience and brand identity.
- Driving brand awareness, engagement and lead generation through strategic content marketing.
- Creating high-quality and compelling content across multiple platforms, including our website, newsletters and printed materials.
- Optimizing content for search engine optimization (SEO) and ensuring consistent brand messaging and tone of voice.
- Collaborating with cross-functional ministry to gather information and develop content that supports church-wide initiatives, major events and thought leadership.

Working Hours: This is a full-time position working at least 36 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-5 pm (with 30-minute unpaid lunch break); Friday 8 am-Noon.
Must be available to cover special events on weekends and evenings as needed. During certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. Additionally, all church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage copywriter and all copywriting/copyediting duties
- Plan, manage, monitor, and make necessary upgrades to the church website and apps
- Ensure content follows HPUMC branding, meets the requirements of the ministries, and is accurate, functional, relevant, and engaging for the target audience throughout digital properties
- Monitor, track, and document results, analyze data/customer response, and make changes accordingly—regularly testing and improving the user experience of all of HPUMC digital platforms
- Manage the Editorial Calendar for the church to ensure that HPUMC’s print and digital goals meet their goals both separately and in tandem for the church’s overall content needs
- Focus on driving high engagement and growing the church’s main platforms in conjunction with the production team’s goals
- Build web pages and app layouts consistent with church-wide or ministry brand standards
- Edit content, debug code, and redesign web pages where necessary
- Review analytics reports from all our digital platforms on performance, highlighting successes and identifying areas for improvement, report on content and campaign performance for digital properties
- Create/maintain e-mail templates, oversee church-wide e-mails, and ensure the information is accurate, proofed, and scheduled in a timely manner according to the content strategy
- Continuously re-evaluate and reimagine the church’s website and apps in an effort to provide the best user experience
- Maintain relationships with vendors associated with the our print products, website and apps, ensuring timely delivery of projects
- Build effective relationships with teammates and ministries

Education and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or a related field
- Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the print industry, printing process and AP Style
- Demonstrated success with social media on platforms including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and YouTube
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Outlook, Google Analytics, and Adobe Acrobat
- Understanding of content marketing tactics, digital advertising, and social media marketing
- Creative-minded with an ability to conceive interesting ideas for new content
- Knowledge of the church, brand, and product preferred
- Highly articulate with an excellent command of written English
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work successfully in a team environment

- Intermediate Adobe Photoshop skills are a bonus
