What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping and Laundry Aide position at Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center?
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to implement facility laundry procedures in an efficient, cost-effective manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Willingness and ability to follow simple directions

Some judgment and initiative in carrying out duties in an orderly fashion

Must stand and wik on cement surfaces throughout the entire shift while performing job duties.

Must be able to lift and carry

Must be able to push/pull equipment

Must be able to bend, twist and reach while performing job duties

Must be able to work around wet, slippery conditions such as floors.

Must be able to work around odors, dust and exposure to various cleansing chemicals.

May be occupationally exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Must be able to comply with infection control procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position works under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation for assigned areas of the facility in a sanitary and acceptable manner.

Follow oral and written instructions

Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS) and where they are kept.

Operate housekeeping/laundry equipment safely

Perform cleaning procedures in accordance with facility policy

Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy; follow directions

Assist in proper care of laundry equipment

Identify and report any equipment malfunction to Supervisor

Report any observed area in poor repair to Supervisor

Use laundry supplies efficiently

Attend in-service training programs for housekeeping/laundry employees

Observe infection control procedures related to Laundry Dept

Follow Residents Rights policies at all times

Follow Facility Safety program

Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality

Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner

Assume accountability for data contained in the employee's handbook
