*Overview*
We are seeking a skilled, mission-oriented Accountant to join our Highland team, and who can grow into an Accounting Manager role. The ideal candidate has attention to detail coupled with technical, administrative, and organizational skills to quantify, report, and measure financial outcomes. This role accurately records the daily financial activities, organizes information, and reports results to management. The accountant reports to the Controller/Treasurer.
*Responsibilities*
· Records customer and donor payments made by cash, check, or credit card.
· Maintains customer, donor, and vendor records and balances.
· Processes invoices and executes cash disbursements.
· Prepares bank deposits.
· Processes the biweekly payroll accurately.
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
· Contacts delinquent accounts for payment.
· Records journal entries.
· Reconciles general ledger and sub-ledger accounts monthly, including inter-company accounts.
· Maintains fixed assets and construction in progress.
· Reports the weekly cash forecasts to management.
· Reports financial results for management monthly, quarterly, and annually.
· Assists with the annual budget process.
· Assists with tax preparation.
· Maintains both the general ledger and tenant portal.
· Maintains accounting records in conjunction with the record retention policy.
· Performs other duties as requested by the Controller/Treasurer.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks;
- Experience with rental property management software (e.g., Propertyware) is a plus
- Experience with double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation
- Knowledge of financial report writing and interpretation
- Ability to manage accounts payable and receivable efficiently
- Experience in financial statement preparation
