Job Summary:
As a Bartender at Highland Restaurant & Bar, you will lead the guest experience by crafting exceptional cocktails, providing top-tier service, and maintaining a welcoming and lively atmosphere. Beyond bar service, you will take on responsibilities such as ordering, pricing, and stocking beer and alcohol and planning engaging events like beer tastings, "tap takeovers." This is an elevated bartending position designed for experienced professionals who want to contribute to a dynamic and innovative bar program.
Responsibilities:
Customer Experience:
- Greet guests warmly, creating an inviting and positive atmosphere.
- Provide expert knowledge of the bar menu, including cocktails, wine, beer, and specials.
- Engage with guests, offering recommendations and creating memorable experiences.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by anticipating their needs and promptly addressing concerns.
Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve craft cocktails, beer, wine, and specialty beverages with precision and consistency.
- Collaborate on the creation of seasonal and specialty cocktails to enhance the bar program.
- Uphold the highest standards in drink presentation, flavor balance, and service.
Bar Maintenance and Operations:
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock levels in the bar area.
- Oversee beer and alcohol inventory management, including ordering, pricing, and rotating stock.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service standards.
- Monitor inventory to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency.
Event Scheduling and Planning:
- Plan and execute bar events such as beer tastings, tap takeovers, and themed drink nights to drive guest engagement and revenue.
- Coordinate with breweries and suppliers to schedule promotions and feature new products.
- Promote bar events to guests and on social media in collaboration with the marketing team.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in training new bar staff to maintain consistency in service and standards.
- Contribute ideas for improving the bar menu, service flow, and guest experience.
Handling Payments:
- Process guest orders accurately using the POS system.
- Handle payments, including cash, credit cards, and gift cards, with precision.
- Maintain accountability for cash handling and tips.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of bartending experience in an upscale or high-volume establishment.
- Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine, beer, and current beverage trends.
- Experience in ordering, pricing, and managing alcohol inventory.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute events such as beer tastings or promotions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset.
- Ability to multitask and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining a professional work environment.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
- Flexible schedule, including availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in mixology, TIPS, or ServeSafe Alcohol.
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and breweries.
