Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer with 6 to 10 years of industry experience, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and components. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and optimization of electrical systems, while adhering to industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of successfully delivering electrical engineering projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Technical project leadership with capacity planning, budgeting, and providing mentorship for junior engineers.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop electrical systems, circuits, and components for various projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine project requirements and specifications, ensuring feasibility and adherence to project timelines.
- Perform detailed electrical calculations, simulations, and analysis to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Create and review technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design requirements.
- Conduct thorough testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, identifying and resolving any issues or deficiencies.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate electrical components, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians, assisting in their professional development and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies, tools, and practices, and integrate them into project designs as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations throughout the design and implementation phases of projects.
- Participate in project meetings, providing progress reports, technical insights, and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to address any electrical engineering-related queries, resolve issues, and ensure smooth project execution.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, able to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
- Strong electrical/electronic background including the ability to read schematics, breadboard electrical and electronic systems, EMI containment/suppression, design and implementation of ballasts, power supplies, uses, circuit breakers, and wiring harnesses.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems may be applied to light sources, headlights, and other peripheral systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills including technical writing.
- Ability to create and maintain project files, schedules, and budgets.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with people in both technical and non-technical roles within the company.
- Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks/projects under general direction, independently determining short term milestones and solutions to problems.
- Ability to work with hand tools, calipers, micrometers, data loggers, multi-meters, thermocouples, and other tools and equipment as found in research lab.
- Proficiency in using CAD software for designing electrical schematics and layouts (EAGLE, Altium).
- Experience with electrical simulation and analysis tools, such as MATLAB, ETAP, or PSpice.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and deliver results within established timelines.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and safety standards, such as NEC, IEC, and IEEE.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS in the field of Electrical Engineering
- 6-10 years experience in electrical engineering
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Medical device manufacturing experience or industry equivalent.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds at times.
- Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
