VP of Engineering - Structural Focus for Residential Structures
JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a VP / Director level - Project Engineer (Structural Professional Engineer) for their operations in Jacksonville, FL. The PE can work remotely and attend meetings in Jacksonville, FL on a monthly basis. Ideal candidates would be living in Florida already as there are many clients in the Florida market to service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Qualifying Agent for Company
- Residential Building experience
- Will assist with Project Managers, Project Superintendents and/or Estimators with all project duties.
- Shop drawing review and processing, estimating, plan takeoff, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, project meeting documentation and review project financials.
- Responsible for all project reviews and reporting project cost, research project technical data and field labor management.
- Create project schedules and work with contractors to assure the work is done properly and timely.
- Meet with all parties involved on a project including the contractors and the clients to provide status updates and answer direct questions.
- Create and seal reports after field inspections are performed.
- Be involved with all aspects of a project and spend time on the construction site.
- Responsible for all projects with clients and work with established repeat client base.
- Understand and meet our customer’s needs and requirements.
- Must be able to oversee the engineering team and responsible for all disciplinary, establish hiring needs, and recommend terminations accordingly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the President.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Must be professional and team-orientated
· Strong attention to detail
· Must have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
· Must have experience with Smartphone apps
· Clear, effective oral and written communication skills
· Strength of character, ethics, and commitment and must be reliable
· Commitment to staying current on understanding of IBC Building Codes
· Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
· Strong work from home / remote skills in order to execute daily duties and supervise others.
· Must be able to manage team members effectively.
· Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
· Strong management/leadership skills to motivate team
· Valid Driver’s license required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must have 5 years minimum of construction and engineering experience.
- Must have bachelor’s degree in related field.
- State of Florida Professional Engineer License (PE) in MEP, Civil/Structural. Multiple discipline PEs are required.
- Chief Building Official license preferred.
The expectation of work hours to be full time and flexible during the regular business day; although commonly the work day can be longer depending on the requirements of the client and the project. The position is considered exempt and reports directly to the President.
This role could be performed partially remotely, yet, we would prefer someone in the Jacksonville, Orlando, or Tampa areas for this role. There will client/field visits (throughout Florida) and Corporate office (Jacksonville) visits.
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
