Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, and prior authorizations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing systems and coding practices. You will work closely with our team, insurance companies, and patients to ensure accurate claims submissions and efficient resolutions. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of procedural coding, and an understanding of insurance policies.
Duties
- Review coding for patient encounters to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain patient billing records and provide clear documentation.
- Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims and denials.
- Perform follow-up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies.
- Review and resolve insurance denials by appealing claims and providing necessary documentation.
- Communicate with patients regarding their insurance coverage, payment options, and billing questions.
- Assist in the collection of outstanding payments from patients and insurance companies.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with procedural prior authorizations.
- Stay updated on dermatology billing regulations and payer requirements.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate patient data entry.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a medical office setting.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of coding systems, including ICD-10 and CPT methodologies.
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
