Duties
- Create a pleasant and secure atmosphere for children by providing love, understanding, and guidance in order to foster building self-esteem.
- Develop classrooms that are organized but should be highly flexible to meet the needs of each individual child. Teachers should provide a variety of structured and unstructured activities throughout the day.
- Provide structured activities that are developmentally appropriate alongside child-choice activities (2/3 of the time).
- Arrange the classrooms to provide maximum safety and comfort.
- Develop daily routines and a consistent environment in the classroom to help children build confidence in their environment.
- Integrate art activities as an opportunity to tie in books, field trips, discussion, and events in the classroom.
- Assist children in completing artwork while encouraging individuality and creativity. Artwork can then be displayed at the children's eye level in the classroom.
- Read stories in an engaging and enriching way daily.
- Complete daily care reports on each child through our Brightwheel app.
- Develop and post monthly themes that will guide activities throughout the month. Share these themes with parents.
- Coordinate routine care: diapering, feeding, naps, while trying to follow along with the parents scheduling as best that can be done in a group setting.
- Notify the Center Director or Assistant Director if a child is injured or if a discipline or adjustment problem takes place.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's degree or higher in early childhood education, social services, or a related field is preferred.
- Completion of 15 hours of continuing education per year, along with CPR and First Aid certification, is required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and TB test.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

- Experience working with infants to preschool-aged children.
- Strong ability to interact effectively with children, staff, and parents.
- Ability to remain calm and understanding in various situations, particularly when addressing children's needs and emotions.
- Knowledge of techniques for promoting positive behavior and addressing behavioral challenges constructively.
- Must be outgoing, flexible, and passionate about working with children. The ability to take direction and collaborate with other staff members is essential.
