What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician I - HDS position at Highlands Diversified Services Inc?
Primary Duties / Responsibility:
- Repair and maintain Plant Equipment (Presses, feeds, Straighteners, uncoilers, paint line, assembly lines, compressors, and other.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance and keep up with shift paperwork and MQ1.
- Be able to install and trouble shoot electrical, air, hydraulic systems.
- Be able to read blueprints, sketches and electrical schematics.
- Trouble shoot problem with tooling, equipment, and others.
- Make recommendations for improvements.
- Analyzes equipment failures and determine the root causes of the problems.
- Oversees all operations per their respective shifts, and accountable for all rules and policies of Highlands Diversified Services.
- Responsible for ensuring all associates are completed tasks in a timely manner.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in installation and maintenance of machinery with PLC’s Pneumatics and Hydraulics
- Basic math skills
- Forklift experience required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication ability
- Must be able to read prints and schematics and electrical, diagrams/illustrations
- Must have a working knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulic, mechanical and others.
- Experience with schematics (electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, relays, fuses, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Fanuc Controls is preferred
- Knowledge in wiring 480-volt circuits of motors and controls
- Working knowledge of metal stamping preferred
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and all necessary equipment
- Three phase electrical experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of maintenance work order system, parts ordering system and preventive maintenance programs
- Outstanding communications skills, and be capable of interfacing well with all production, quality control, and warehouse personnel
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays, and weekly overtime as required
Required Safety Equipment
- Steel toe or equivalent as required by HDS.
- Any other safety requirements as defined by the EHS manager.
Educational skills required
- Minimum high school diploma or GED preferred.
- College degree not required.

- Must be able to sit, reach above shoulders, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, 10-hour or 12-hour shifts.
- Must be able to stand 10-12 hours daily.
Must have physical dexterity.
