Job Summary:

Qualifications:
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Valid Michigan teaching certification.
- Endorsement in Science or related fields
Experience
- Prior teaching experience at the elementary/middle level is preferred.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Proficiency with educational technology and software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Stamina to work in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the educational standards and cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Develop age-appropriate instructional materials, activities, and assessments.
- Implement a variety of teaching methods and strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate technology effectively into the curriculum.
Classroom Management
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Establish and maintain classroom rules and procedures.
- Manage student behavior through positive reinforcement and consistent disciplinary practices.
Student Assessment and Support
- Monitor and evaluate student progress through regular assessments and provide timely feedback.
- Identify students' needs and work with specialists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
Professional Development
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school community.
School Community Involvement
- Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other activities that support the school community.
- Serve on committees and contribute to the overall improvement of the school.

- This position follows the Northview Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement and is evaluated by the Highlands Middle School Principal.
