JOB TITLE: Janitor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
General Statement of Duties: Performs a variety of duties to maintain the cleanliness and safety of all HRCA facilities and off-site Community Events.
Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Assistant Facility Managers and Facility Manager.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Shifts and Hours Needed: Fridays 4p-930p, Saturdays 4p-8p, Sundays 8a-1pm
JOB DESCRIPTION
Examples of Duties:
The following examples of duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Responsible for basic cleaning and sanitizing of all buildings, both indoors and outdoors.
- After training by a supervisor, will quickly develop a basic working knowledge of and ability to properly operate cleaning equipment (i.e. auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, power washers, and floor machines).
- Demonstrates an understanding of cleaning chemicals and their properties.
- Demonstrates the ability to work under the direction of a supervisor to assist at Community Events as needed (set-up, breakdown and clean up duties).
- Required to move furniture and equipment (i.e. tables, chairs, desks, exercise equipment) as directed.
- Stores and inventories supplies as directed. Notifies the Assistant Facility Manager Supervisor of the need to order additional supplies as necessary.
- Demonstrates initiative in keeping assigned areas clean to a high standard as well as seeking and completing additional duties and special projects.
- Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling that can include accommodating dates of times of Community Events.
- Demonstrates consistent teamwork skills and the ability to work well with a variety of supervisory staff and coworkers.
- Demonstrates initiative in keeping assigned areas clean to a high standard as well as seeking and completing additional duties and projects.
- Participates in the mission of the organization of “Enhancing property values and creating quality of life through recreation, community events, and leadership.”
- Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Physical and Environmental Standards:
Working conditions are normal for an office and recreation center environment. Work requires off-site functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have knowledge of janitorial skills required to clean floors, carpets, windows, and bathrooms. Must be at least 18 years of age or older. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with supervisory staff and coworkers, members and guests. Ability to safely lift 25 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds with assistance. Must pass a pre-employment physical, background screening and drug/alcohol test. Must maintain a clean driving record in order to operate an HRCA vehicle. If using own vehicle for company business, personal insurance must meet HRCA liability limits.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screening.

Education:
High school education or equivalent is desired.
Experience:
Six months related janitorial experience is desired.
