ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you’ll help keep the batting cages running smoothly and assist the Recreation Supervisor with facility operations. The Batting Cage Attendant performs a variety of tasks to assist in the operation, maintenance, and security of the batting cages at Redstone Park, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Collect admissions payments and process credit card transactions.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
- Complete basic equipment maintenance and cleaning.
- Write maintenance reports.
- Concessions sales
- Monitor activity and report issues.
- Adhere to and enforce safety policies and guidelines.
- Assist in the recommendation and evaluation of improvements to the operation that will provide maximum enjoyment for all the participants.
- Updates weather hotline number as needed.
- When available, cover shifts for other batting cage attendants.
- Assists with ensuring the safety of employees and participants; maintains discipline and assists with handling complaints from the public.
- Complies with District and department rules and regulations, and policies and procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Will occasionally assist in providing on the job training to new employees. Supervises participants and spectators, enforces batting cage rules as applicable.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Less than one year of practical experience in customer service, sales, equipment maintenance, or related field.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled in operation of listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to handle cash and complete sale transactions accurately.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 16 years of age, able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, March through October.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, calculator, phone, cell phone, various hand tools, and cleaning supplies.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally quiet or moderately loud when in the batting cages.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a seasonal, part-time position working from 5-40 hours per week, March through October, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
