Highlight is seeking a Washington, DC-based Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support our General Services Administration (GSA) Contract Team. This role will provide operational support, performance optimization, cloud infrastructure management, and DevSecOps leadership. The SRE will work closely with development teams to enhance platform infrastructure and improve system performance through automation, testing, and monitoring.

The SRE will work closely with development teams to enhance platform infrastructure and improve system performance through automation, testing, and monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Run the production environment. Measure and optimize system performance, maintaining service level objectives (SLOs).
- Develop software and systems to manage and operate platform infrastructure and applications.
- Provide operational and engineering expertise for multiple software applications.
- Ensure production readiness for releases, conducting performance and usability testing, and gathering and analyzing system and application metrics.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance testing and release.
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Automate infrastructure and system operations
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for production incidents and lead post-incident reviews.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related highly technical, scientific discipline.
- 10 years of experience operating systems with over one million users.
- 10 years of experience in application development.
- 5 years of experience in DevSecOps and AWS
- 3 years of experience with microservices architecture for application deployment.
- 3 years of experience in Agile or CI/CD.
- 5 years of experience leading teams in cloud operations and SRE.
- Experience with technologies such as Mesos, Kubernetes, or Yarn.
- Key Skills & Knowledge Areas:
- Proficiency in Python, Java, C/C , Ruby, or JavaScript.
- Expertise in system performance tuning, capacity planning, and incident resolution.
- Strong background in automation, monitoring, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Ability to balance development and system reliability with stability.
- Excellent, proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a public trust.
