Under the Vice President for Students Office and the Dean of Student Support and Funding Services, the Associate Director of Community Standards & Student Conduct manages a comprehensive student conduct and community standards program for students. The Associate Director has significant responsibility for investigating and adjudicating alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code, which occurs both on and off campus. The Associate Director will adjudicate both academic and behavioral misconduct. This includes determining appropriate educational sanctions for students found responsible for violating the Student Conduct Code.
The Associate Director of Community Standards & Student Conduct coordinates outreach and educational programming opportunities related to student rights and responsibilities, academic integrity, student conduct code, Concern, Assistance, Resources, and Empowerment Team (CARE), behavioral intervention, anti-hazing, sexual misconduct, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), substance abuse, and related topics.
The Associate Director of Community Standards & Student Conduct reports to the Dean of Student Support and Funding Services with consultation from the College's Title IX Coordinator. This individual works closely with key campus partners including the Office of Public Safety, Women's Programs, Counseling Center, International Student Programs, Center for Leadership and Service, Concern, Assistance, Resources and Empowerment (CARE) Team, Running Start, instructional cohorts, faculty chairs, and coordinators to connect each individual involved in a process to appropriate and applicable college resources.
This position is an exempt, at-will, full-time position.
Essential Tasks
Program Management : Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct & CARE
- Administer and interpret the student conduct process and procedures to ensure compliance with Washington Administrative Code 132I-126;
- Serve as the college's student conduct officer per Washington Administrative Code 132I-126;
- Investigate alleged violations of the student code of conduct, adjudicate student conduct cases, schedule and manage student conduct meetings and hearings, as outlined in Student Conduct Code and student judicial processes and procedures;
- Evaluate, determine and communicate student conduct process, procedures, sanctions, and conditions to students with a culturally responsive and inclusive framework;
- Assist in the development, deployment and evaluation of reporting and decision-making protocols relative to students of concern;
- Serve as Co-Chair for the Behavioral Intervention Team known as CARE (Concern, Assistance, Resources, and Empowerment Team), and Chair the Hazing Prevention Committee;
- Case Manage students referred to CARE using a collaborative model;
- Serve as a member of the Compliance Committee, Housing Committee, Artificial Intelligence Workgroup, and other campus committees;
- Coach, collaborate and consult with faculty and staff in relation to addressing concerning behaviors related to CARE, Conduct, and Academic Integrity;
- Process and manage cases through the Maxient software system;
- File allegations, schedule cases, and issue disciplinary meeting and sanctions letters;
- Ensure the maintenance, security, and accuracy of all student conduct and CARE records and documentation;
- Generate reports on student conduct issues, including quarterly and annual conduct reports;
- Manage the preparation and maintenance of statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to student conduct cases and CARE reports;
- Lead recruitment processes and train Student Conduct Committee members;
- Develop and operate educational initiatives related to student conduct that support the mission and values of Highline College;
- Manage the Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct Student & Activities budget.
