The Program Manager, Legal Studies Career Launch - Part-time position will provide departmental support through community and business outreach in the college's Legal Studies program. This position reports to the Legal Studies Department Program Coordinator as a member of the Legal Studies Department.

This is a temporary, part-time salaried position (20 hours per week) .50 FTE, with overtime eligibility (after 40 hours/week). 

The position is funded by a grant, which is set to end on December 31, 2028.


Reporting to the Legal Studies Department Program Coordinator, this position will:

  • Enhance relationships with existing Law Offices through improved coordination and communication between the worksite and the college. Leverage Law Office relationships to expand the Legal Studies Department’s Advisory Committee;
  • Develop a marketing strategy to increase the number of Law Offices providing on-the-job training;
  • Expanding the student recruitment and retention plan;
  • Improve tracking and reporting of worksite activities, including performance metrics, evaluations, scope of work, and student and Law Office feedback;
  • Create and update program newsletter and social media content on a regular basis;
  • Create and regularly update searchable directories of program partner law offices and program alumni;
  • Create and maintain an electronic record keeping system to track student law office experiences and outcomes;
  • Create and maintain an electronic record keeping system to identify and track prospective students, including department follow-up and enrollment.
Ability to:
  • Effectively communicate, both written and verbally;
  • Ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectives;
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in business, marketing, communications, legal studies, or related field.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, communications, legal studies, or related field;
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience with  Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Two or more years of experience in creating and managing professional directories, databases, or electronic record keeping systems;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop);
  • Two or more years experience managing large and complex projects, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing;
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; prior law firm or higher education experience a plus;
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends, including travel to regional Law Offices.

THE DEPARTMENT:
The Legal Studies program at Highline offers two Paralegal programs. A 2-year, ABA-approved, Associate of Applied Science program is our program for students wishing to acquire an Associate degree in paralegal studies. Wealso offer a 1-year, ABA-approved, Paralegal Plus Certificate for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree and wish to acquire a paralegal certificate.
 
In addition, Highline has an Associate of Arts (Direct Transfer Agreement) program with an emphasis on legal classes that can be transferred to a four-year university. This program is not ABA-approved and is not intended to prepare students for careers as paralegals. See https://legal.highline.edu/ for more information.
