SUMMARY: The Programmatic Grants Manager serves as the liaison between central office and schools by providing non-financial management of certain programs and grants, including ensuring compliance regulations are met, school budgets and expenditures meet programmatic goals, and program-related staff understand their responsibilities and opportunities under these funding sources. The Programmatic Grants Manger ensures that programs meet their highest potential strategic goals as well as their compliance targets.
The person in this role will oversee the implementation of two grants; Horizon and GEAR UP. Specifically, they will utilize past experience and skill to provide budget oversight and be familiar with matching funds, facility in data reporting and analysis, effective engagement with school leaders and staff, community-based partners and grantors. They will serve on the Secondary Success, College and Career Readiness Leadership Team with the department Director and Assistant Director to ensure alignment of grant and non-grant initiatives in support of the Highline Promise and Future Ready strategic plan goals.
The Horizon grant is focused on improving post-secondary advising systems. In this role, the grants manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, partnering with students, families, staff, and community-based organizations to consider the strengths and opportunities that exist within Highline and build upon national best practices to establish a system-wide advising approach. This grant will take place over three years, starting with learning in year 1, strategy development in year 2, and implementation in year 3.
GEAR UP is a federally funded grant that is being implemented in partnership with the University of Washington and involves the development and implementation of college and career access programs for cohorts of students, starting in middle school and following them into and through high school. In Highline, GEAR UP will start with 6th and 7th grade students in three middle schools. The grant manager will take a leadership role in collaborating with the University of Washington, other school districts, and school-based staff to ensure that student programs are developed and implemented to meet grant deliverables, reporting is accurate and timely, and grant spending is aligned to grant goals.
Ideal candidates for this role will have experience navigating complex grantor/grantee relationships in an outcome driven environment. They will be skilled at navigating both the technical aspects of grant management and the adaptive skills required for strategy implementation and change management. To be successful, the individual in this role will have outstanding communication, facilitation, and relationship building skills. This role is grant funded through August 2027 with the possibility of extension through September 2031.
