Essential Functions

- Stays abreast of country and state-specific legislation and ensures that the company’s manufactured products, formulations, and labeling reflects current regulations and customer requirements. Provides updates to team members of regulatory or customer requirements.
- Monitor product development of manufactured and distributed items. Completes chemical classifications to maintain compliance with Global Hazard Communication regulations.
- Assist in product label development and compliance review by providing regulatory expertise and oversight to the product label design elements.
- Assists in the licensing and reporting processes for manufactured products.
- Prepares and submits moderately complex regulatory filings, including new product applications, revisions, quarterly and annual reports.
- Authors and updates Safety Data Sheets (SDS) following Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals Standard and meeting customer requirements (e.g., WERCs registrations), as needed.
- Collaborate with commercial, procurement, supply chain, and other cross functional teams to assure collection of appropriate data for regulatory submissions and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure transportation and shipping compliance with DOT, IMDG, and IATA regulations.
- Develop guidance for international sales, shipping, and international product development, as needed.
- Provide technical expertise to ensure regulatory compliance at all company facilities.
- Maintains data within the company’s chemical management system.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
- Expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment with matters of significance.
- Assist in mentoring and development of Product Compliance Regulatory Associates.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
- Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.

An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in a scientific or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge skills and abilities required.
- At least 4 years employment experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality systems , preferably in chemical and/or oil manufacturing setting.
- At least 2 years’ experience with HAZCOM, GHS, and/or SDS authoring .
- Experience with collecting and synthesizing product regulatory data.
- Experience with applying shipping and hazardous materials aspects 49 CFR, IMDG Code and IATA is highly desirable.
- Experience using WERCS and/or ExESS software highly desirable.
- Experience with state and federal regulatory frameworks, including CBP, EPA and OSHA.
- Certification in 49 CFR Department of Transportation (DOT) Shipping, International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and International Air Transportation Association (IATA) preferred.
