What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant-Hartsville Family Wellness position at Highpoint Health – Sumner?
Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.
Reports to: Office Manager I or II per clinic structure
FLSA: Non-exempt
Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination
areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent - Required
Graduate of a Program in Discipline (Medical Assistant) - Preferred
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a
stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer skills required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 90 days of hire, if not
current upon hire.
Licensure: Must be registered or certified as Medical Assistant.
New Hires or new position transfers that are not registered or certified upon start in position have 6 months from start date in
position to obtain.
Minimum Work Experience:
2 years Medical Office Experience Preferred
