The RN-Psychiatric plays a vital role in providing direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric conditions, utilizing the nursing process while adhering to scope and standards of practice.
Description:
As a key member of the healthcare team, the RN-Psychiatric is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care that addresses the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of patients.
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Administers medications as prescribed by physicians and documents patient care given.
- Monitors and records patient condition, communicating relevant information to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Requirements:
- Minimum Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, or RN Diploma required.
- Required Skills:
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 12 months of employment.
- License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
- Minimum Work Experience: Six months to one year experience with psychiatric/behavioral patients.
