Description
Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Reports to : Director Surgical Services
Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program - Preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required. Required Skills
Certifications :
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire. Required Skills
Licenses :
Certification is required for experienced surgical technologist upon hire unless qualifications are met under the TCA Section 68-57-102 grandfather clause effective 7 / 1 / 2006. New Graduate Surgical Technologists are required to obtain certification within 6 months of employment. Minimum Work Experience
