Position Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, design, build, test and debug embedded electronics for laboratory devices and systems.
- Develop schematics, specify components, perform simulation and board layout. Manage suppliers of components and boards.
- Participate in electrical and safety/compliance design reviews to ensure delivery of reliable, compliant, and robust automation and robotic devices and systems.
- Develop specifications, test plans, drawings, and other design/build documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues on automation and robotic systems.
- Develop and manage timelines and budgets for product development.
- Interface with customers and cross-functional teams regarding requirements, timelines, testing, training, etc.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience developing analog and digital circuits, schematics and PCB, and system architecture design.
- Strong hands-on experience in developing electrical boards and specifying components for robotics, automation, or similar systems.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer or similar board design tools.
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, and other motion control technologies.
- Familiarity with power conversion techniques including AC/DC, DC/DC, etc.
- Familiarity with North American (NA) and European Union (EU) electrical design standards.
- Understanding of global regulatory standards for robotic and lab automation applications (e.g., IEC, CE, UL).
- Ability to work with ambiguous requirements and deliver structured solutions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with strong prioritization skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to independently manage multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and effectively present complex technical information.
