Solid state battery/electrolyzer Engineer

Job description

HighT-Tech, Inc. is looking for a solid-state battery and electrolyzer engineer who can help with process development, electrochemistry, and testing. You will contribute to the research and development of materials processes for a broad range of projects related to solid-state batteries and solid-state electrolyzers, especially in the formulation of functional material compositions, processing, and materials characterization. This position works from broad objectives to develop and execute a wide variety of complex process engineering assignments through process development and R&D projects, supporting the deployment of the manufacturing system, new product development, improvement of the manufacturing process, reliability, product yields, product quality, production rate, and production costs.

Required Qualifications

• Conduct and lead projects in energy conversion and storage, solid-state batteries, and solid-state electrolyzers.
• Conduct basic & applied research and process development of high-temperature materials and thermal processing.
• Design & execute experiments and work independently to lead tasks.
• Construct prototypes, interface with external vendors, and confirm designs, fabrication, and installation.
• Conduct analytical work to define, meet or exceed project entitlements.
• Prepare accurate and concise technical presentations and reports and design documentation.
• Identify new technology, products, and service opportunities in the area of energy conversion and storage.
• Practical knowledge of safety practices as they relate to experimental design and lab practices.
• Supervise and mentor technicians or other engineers. Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group, and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Desired Characteristics

• Expertise in solid-state batteries and solid oxide electrolyzers fabrication/manufacturing.
• Experience at a commercial solid oxide cell manufacturer or a government research facility in the area of solid-state batteries and solid oxide electrolyzers.
• Strong data analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving skills using innovative and hands-on solutions.
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal skills, highly motivated, self-confident, and have goals for a career in industrial research.

Eligibility Requirements

• Master or Doctor degrees in Materials science, Ceramics, Electrochemistry, or related field in developing solid-state batteries and electrolyzers.
• Proven record of innovation in energy storage and conversion technologies, including solid-state batteries or electrolysis cells, materials synthesis and processing, and performance testing.
• Practical knowledge of safety practices as they relate to experimental design and lab practices.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
