Your Future Team:

Vigilant Wealth Management, a growing wealth management practice with approximately $3.1 billion under management, is looking for an Associate Wealth Advisor to join our dynamic and talented team. You will work with a team of Wealth Advisors to deliver our wealth planning value proposition to clients who are high net worth individuals and families.


This position is based in our Portland, ME office, with occasional travel to the Portsmouth, NH office. You will report to the Principal.


What You’ll Do:

Work with the senior Wealth Advisors to deliver our wealth planning value proposition to client relationships

  • Prepare financial analyses and cash flow models for client presentations
  • Provide technical support to the Wealth Advisor in the delivery of estate planning and tax planning advice to clients
  • Gather relevant client data to complete wealth planning presentations on all topical areas (estate planning, insurance, outside investment accounts, tax information)
  • Conduct research and report to the team on different ongoing financial planning topics
  • Serve as an important member of the client team, working with and communicating with the Client Relationship Associate and Portfolio Manager
  • Attend client meetings where appropriate
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of workflows and procedures to improve efficiency and enhance client experience.
  • Over time, with experience and regulatory licensing, become the primary point of contact for certain client relationships and service


Work with the senior Wealth Advisors to drive the sales and marketing efforts of the Firm in attracting new client assets

  • Assist with the development, planning and execution of events and other activities that promote our business development goals
  • Cultivate relationships to generate additional client assets for us
  • Network among professionals within the communities in which we operate, presenting our value proposition to prospective clients to maintain and develop the relationship
  • Act as an ambassador of the Firm within the community


Work with our Client Relationship Associates (CRAs)

  • Maintain good working relationships
  • Document progress and completed tasks in our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software with satisfactory detail so that the current status can be easily understood by other members in the firm
  • Communicate frequently and meet (at least weekly) to discuss needs and activities, adequately prepare for meetings
  • Provide feedback for performance reviews


Participate in the enrichment of our culture and working environment

  • Develop working relationships across all departments of the firm
  • Positively influence the professional environment of the Firm and the growth profile of the organization
  • Proactively bring ideas and opinions to the senior management team, particularly with any issues affecting the high-quality client experience we aim to provide
  • Bring organizational structure and input regarding best practices to the management team


Play an active role in different firm committees – prepare and contribute thoughts for agendas, raise concerns, suggest solutions, look for and implement efficiency and process improvement


What You’ll Bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of finance and economics
  • Ability to follow instruction, retain details and meet deadlines
  • Well-developed presentation skills
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize and track multiple tasks in a fast–paced environment
  • Demonstrated oral and written skills, a proven ability to communicate with clients, their advisors, and fellow colleagues – both in-person and through different mediums
  • Ability to adeptly handle confidential information and sensitive situations
  • General understanding of the tax sensitivity of managing individual client, trust, and foundation accounts, trust and estate planning, and other related wealth planning concepts is paramount
  • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of Tamarac (CRM and portfolio accounting software), Schwab Institutional website and Fidelity Wealthscape a plus.
  • Knowledge of, and strict adherence to, our compliance policies and procedures
  • Ability to work beyond standard office hours
  • Ability travel for client/prospect meetings and other job-related activities, and between offices – currently located in Maine and New Hampshire


Education and Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in the financial services industry in a client-facing role, with record of fiduciary responsibility and Experience implementing financial plans
  • Preferred experience in wealth management, working with HNW and UHNW clients
  • B.A./B.S. required
  • CPA, CFP or similar relevant professional designation preferred - designee or currently pursuing
  • Series 65 is a requirement of the position and will be financially supported, as needed, by us
