Job Summary: We are seeking a well-rounded Staff Accountant & Accounts Payable Specialist to support both general accounting functions and the accounts payable process. This role will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close while also ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting
· Assist with general ledger management, journal entries, and reconciliations.
· Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and adjustments.
· Prepare financial reports and assist with variance analysis.
· Maintain accurate records and support outside accountant review and compliance efforts.
· Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
· Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to improve financial processes and controls.
· Prepare ad hoc reports as needed to support general accounting and operation functions.
Accounts Payable
· Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and timely payments.
· Set up and maintain vendor records, including obtaining W-9s and other required documentation.
· Manage vendor relationships, resolve discrepancies, and respond to inquiries.
· Reconcile AP transactions and assist with related month-end close activities.
· Ensure compliance with 1099 reporting requirements.
· Monitor cash requirements related to AP and assist with cash flow forecasting.
· Assist in setting up and optimizing an AP approval workflow to improve efficiency and controls.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
· 2 years of experience in accounting (accrual based) and accounts payable functions using an ERP. Experience within a manufacturing environment is a plus!
· Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and AP processes.
· Proficiency using Excel for more advanced functions (pivot tables, vlookup, sumif, etc.).
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating with the accounting team.
