Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join our team in Ames, Iowa. The Lead Estimator will be responsible for overseeing the estimation process for traffic control and pavement marking projects, ensuring accurate and timely cost assessments. This role involves leading a team of estimators, developing bid strategies, and maintaining budget control during the estimating and preconstruction phases.
Key Responsibilities :
- Team Leadership : Supervise and guide the estimating team throughout the estimation process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Project Analysis : Review, analyze, and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Cost Estimation : Prepare detailed cost estimates for self-perform and subcontracted items, ensuring all risk factors are considered.
- Site Assessment : Conduct site visits to understand site conditions and restrictions, incorporating findings into cost estimations.
- Bid Management : Develop bid strategies and lead the entire bid process for negotiated and hard bids, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Database Management : Oversee the development and maintenance of a corporate cost database, benchmarking, and related information.
- Procedure Development : Develop and maintain estimating procedures, ensuring their compatibility with the estimating database and contracting strategy.
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in traffic control and pavement marking projects.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of estimators.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
