What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Coordinator position at Highway Transport?
The Parts Coordinator will assist the Shop Manager and Equipment Cleaning (when applicable) with the management of parts and inventories. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all work orders are entered and processed accurately.
- Track charges from vendor invoices to ensure the charges are correct.
- Maintain adequate and organized inventory of parts used by technicians for repairs and preventive. maintenance services.
- Learn new technology related to the maintenance and repair of tractor trailers and associated parts.
- Monitor all vendors for proper pricing and serviceability.
- Prepare and ship parts to outlying facilities as needed.
- Monitor the usage rates of parts and adjust inventory as needed.
- Perform inventory counts as daily cycle counts of maintenance parts.
- Advise Shop Manager of any issues pertaining to parts, parts inventory, or other issues.
- Operate a forklift to move and load parts.
- Responsible for the security of inventory and for analyzing the quality of parts.
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal liability insurance coverage at or above the legal state of residence minimum requirements
Skills
- Ability to utilize computers for inventory, recordkeeping, parts information, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Normal work schedule Monday through Friday
- After hours and weekend work may be required.
- The following physical abilities, environments and equipment may be met during a typical working day:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear proper PPE.
- Majority of time will be spent in both a shop and an office environment.
- Occasional travel
