Job Summary:
HiHealthCare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality healthcare services in a correctional facility setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent critical-thinking skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and secure environment. This role requires at least 2-3 years of corrections experience or 3-5 years of hospital experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals, including assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
- Conduct patient evaluations and develop appropriate care plans in compliance with facility policies and state regulations.
- Respond to medical emergencies, triage patient conditions, and coordinate with physicians and healthcare providers.
- Administer medications, wound care, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with protocols.
- Monitor patient progress and document findings in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Educate patients on disease prevention, hygiene, and medication adherence.
- Maintain security protocols while delivering patient care in a controlled environment.
- Collaborate with correctional officers, mental health professionals, and other medical staff to ensure comprehensive care.
- Adhere to all state, federal, and correctional facility regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Active RN license in Hawaii.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a correctional facility OR 3-5 years of hospital experience in medical-surgical, ER, or critical care settings.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (ACLS preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function effectively in a high-pressure and secure environment.
