Store Curator (Retail Team Member)

JOB SUMMARY

hihi (hellohihi.com) is a shop specializing in collectible toys with locations in Royal Oak and Midtown Detroit. We’re looking for an ambitious, hard working individual to join our team in an in-store sales role. We are a small business and this position will be less structured than a similar role in a larger company.

EXPERIENCE

Please read the following requirements carefully. Applicants must meet all of the requirements listed below to be considered for the position.

• Previous retail experience preferred but related experience such as food service is also acceptable
• Strong familiarity with the products sold at hihi, specifically Anime and Kawaii
• Strong interest in current trends and pop culture
• Reliable transportation to/from work
• Must be at least 18 years old

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily store operations include engage and educate store visitors, assisting customers with purchases, receiving new products, set up store displays, cleaning and organizing, packing and unpacking, and restocking sold items
• Utilize computer systems for transactions and communicating with team and customers
• Occasional opportunities to work at off-site events such as Comic Cons and Anime conventions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lift and move up to 35 lbs from time to time (with assistance as needed for heavier items); occasionally climb ladders up to 8 ft and be able to stand for long periods with occasional kneeling, bending, and twisting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

Primarily working onsite in a store environment. Work days and shift times will vary depending on current scheduling needs. Evening and weekend hours should be expected. Will also be expected to attend occasional meetings with leadership and other team members, occasionally utilizing remote meeting software.
