Job Description
Responsible for daily operations of a team or work unit (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs). Assignments are received in task oriented terms. Provides direction to subordinates using established policies and precedents. Monitors work operations and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates as required. Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Administers and executes policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees. Monitors daily operations of a unit and actively assists, or provides direction to, subordinates as required. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules.
Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma and 8 years of Shipbuilding or Heavy Industry experience with 4 years in a craft management role.
Must attach a resume
Must be able to read a blueprint
Must be willing to work any shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Cost and Schedule accountability, and the ability to organize priorities to meet major events.
- Must have progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills are required.
- Must be able to read a blueprint.
- Must have ability to enter confined spaces, crawling, bending, climbing ladders and stairs when required.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Communication and relationship skills – able to deal effectively with all levels of Ingalls and customer reps.
- Construction experience in a marine setting is preferred,
