Hiker Trailers is seeking a skilled Trailer Assembly & Electrical Technician to join our team in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will be responsible for wiring trailer frames with 12-volt electrical systems and installing critical components such as suspension systems, wheels, and tires. You will combine mechanical assembly expertise with electrical wiring proficiency to ensure our trailers are built to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Wiring:
- Install 12-volt wiring systems on trailer frames, including connectors, wiring harnesses, and control circuits.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and technical specifications accurately to ensure proper installation.
- Mechanical Assembly:
- Assemble trailer components including suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
- Securely install mechanical components in line with design and safety standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing to verify the integrity of installed components.
- Quality & Safety:
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure all tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
- Document assembly work, report defects, and suggest improvements for process efficiency.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with design, engineering, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in electrical or mechanical systems are a plus.
- Prior experience in trailer assembly, automotive wiring, or related mechanical/electrical fields preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with electrical wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks that require physical exertion.
- Capable of working in varying environmental conditions typically found in manufacturing settings.
