Ensure oil and gas facility operations obtain required environmental land use authorizations. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to efficiently manage the land use permitting process. Evaluate project activities for environmental and regulatory impacts including land use, wildlife, air, water, and waste issues. Helps develop and promote environmental management systems, policies, procedures, and programs. Promotes Environmental Stewardship throughout the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Obtains land use environmental permits that require resource agency authorization, specifically related to surface use, wetlands, and coastal management areas, e.g., maintenance activities, dredging, drilling structures, P&A, and pipeline installation.
  • Serves as the EHS point of contact for asset teams and facilities to ensure regulatory compliance, including field Management of Change (MOC) requests.
  • Works collaboratively within the EHS team to engage the appropriate Subject Matter Experts for additional support or input on project permitting.
  • Works with local, state, and federal agencies to satisfy regulatory requirements and respond to requests for information as part of the project permitting process.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with federal, state and local agencies throughout the project permitting process.
  • Coordinates with lead and supporting federal, state and local agencies on the development of a NEPA assessment in support of project development (if required).
  • Conducts stakeholder outreach activities to communicate project development timelines and critical issues to key local stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains project budgets and cost tracking.
  • Monitors new and changing regulations for relevance and completes applicability determinations as necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining the company's environmental files and programs and accurately tracks compliance obligations driven by permit stipulations.
  • Works closely with Land department on ownership issues, land use history, and lease renewals.
  • Assists EHS department with all mitigation and environmental compensation programs and planning.
  • Supports asset teams by providing project review, planning, and education on land use permitting framework within Alaska.
  • Participates in weekly meetings with asset teams as part of proactive permitting process.
  • Organize meetings with local, state, and federal resource agencies to present work activity plans on a quarterly to yearly basis.
  • Compiles semi-annual status reports required by local resource agencies, in addition to preparing other permit-related reports and as-builts on an ad hoc basis.
  • Assists the EHS department in performing internal and regulatory agency audits and inspections.
  • Assists with, and participates in, the company's emergency response situations and spill management program.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8 ) years minimum regulatory and environmental oil and gas experience.
  • Familiarity with dynamic regulatory framework for land use permitting for oil and gas activities in Alaska.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Experience with Federal Outer Continental Shelf requirements under BOEM and BSEE. - Preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Preferred: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Education Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college
  • Preferred: Degree Specialization in Environmental Sciences/Engineering.
