What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing/Infection Preventionist position at Hildebrand Care Center?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Implement Infection Prevention and Control Program, which includes preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual arrangement based upon facility assessment and that follow national standards.
- Use a system of surveillance to identify possible communicable diseases or infections before they can spread to other person in the facility.
- Report incidents of communicable diseases or infections as mandated by regulations and/or CDC.
- Determine when and how isolation should be used for a resident.
- Develop and implement an antibiotic stewardship program that uses antibiotic protocols and a system to monitor antibiotic use.
- Ensure that standard and transmission-based precautions are followed to prevent spread of infections.
- Perform investigations of employee exposure incidents to determine root cause and refer results to the Human Resources Director.
- Work with Human Resource Director to coordinate infection control training programs for nursing service personnel.
- Complete nursing schedule and distribute biweekly.
- Report any scheduling issues/concerns to the Director of Nursing promptly.
- Communicate hiring needs to the Director of Human Resources.
- Perform daily rounds of the facility to monitor employees’ performance meeting nursing care standards and ensuring that nursing personnel are following the residents’ care plans.
- Alternate on call duties with the DON and other designated staff.
- Keep the director informed concerning procedures and nursing care in the facility.
- Contributes to the development of the philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and job descriptions for the nursing service department.
- Provide SDS in the hazardous chemical book and inform all employees of hazardous chemicals in the facility as well as use of chemical data sheets for protective gear and antidotes. Update SDS annually and as new chemicals are utilized.
- Perform data entry of admission orders as needed
- Coordinating and administer annual Flu Vaccine for staff and Residents.
- Medication pass competency audits for new nurse’s and annually for all nurse’s
- Serve on committees as delegated by the DON i.e., Department Head Meeting, and QAPI committee.
- Utilize the QAPI process/forms and data obtained from the Quality Indicators, etc., to identify, audit and implement systems to continually improve quality of life and care for the residents. Implement recommendations from the QAPI Committee as they relate to the ADON/Infection Preventionist position.
- Assist the DON with conducting nurses’ meetings and CNA meetings. Conduct meetings in the absence of the DON.
- Work on the floor as med nurse as needed and as able.
- Assist DON with duties in her absence.
- Models and promotes person centered care, and actively participates in neighborhood meetings and activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
