What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Preparer (Seasonal) position at Hileman's Tax & Payroll?
Seasonal tax preparers typically work from the end of January to April. Seasonal preparers may return each year depending the preparer’s availability.
Responsibilities will include:
- Enter personal client data and financial information into tax preparation software to prepare individual tax returns including federal, state and city returns
- Research tax related questions and issues
- Scan documents, creating and maintaining both electronic and paper client files
- Answer the phone and schedule appointments
- Provides exceptional client service, adapts and takes initiative, strong project management, organizational and analytical skills
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualified candidates should possess the following skills or experience:
- Ability to multi-task, remain calm, prioritize, and stay organized under deadlines
- Willingness to adapt to changing situations and needs in a positive manner
- Ability to strictly maintain confidentiality
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat is preferred, adaptable to new technology.
- Knowledge of basic accounting concepts involved in tax return preparation ideal but not required
Education:
- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor’s degree preferred
