Description
Do you have experience working on Diesel tractor trailers, a track record of leading people well, and like having a vital say in how things are run? You might be just who we're looking for to fill the role of Director of Maintenance, who serves as a member of the Hill Bros Executive Management Team and oversees our fleet of approximately 250 tractors and over 700 trailers.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is part of the Hill Bros Executive Management Team. Responsible for the development and strategic leadership of all programs, policies and procedures related to maintaining Hill Bros facilities and equipment.
This includes repair and maintenance of :
- Tractors
- Trailers
- Truck yard and property maintenance
Key accountabilities include :
Maintaining operational uptime on company fleet of tractors and trailersKeeping all equipment safe and compliant with DOT regulationsProvide excellent customer service to our driving employeesExpense management responsibilities for all repair and maintenanceStaff management, development and planning of employees on multiple shiftsExpertise on procurement of tractors and trailers to minimize running costs and maintenanceRequirements

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Directly lead, supervise and coordinate activities of the shop. Ensure members are trained, aware, focused and directed to the achievement of the shop and company goals.Have working knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Maintain compliance with maintenance related regulations with particular focus on sections 393, Parts and Accessories necessary for Safe Operation and 396, Inspection, Repair and Maintenance.Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.Confer with personnel, such as management, quality control, customer, to coordinate work activities, resolve employee issues, and identify and review resource needs.Compile operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.Oversee the administration and maintenance of truck assignment program.Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.Develop and implement electronic maintenance programs and computer information management systems.Design equipment configurations to meet personnel needs.Participate in budget preparation and administration, coordinating purchasing and documentation, and monitoring departmental expenditures.Review, evaluate, accept, and coordinate completion of work bid from contractors.Communicate and collaborate with designated members concerning potential equipment to be used in lease purchase program, when applicable.Periodically request bids from vendors to maintain lowest guaranteed price locked in for 6 months.Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary measures.Meet with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work.Communicate and enforce safety rules and regulations.Comply with, set an example, and support company policies and procedures.Consistently report to work as required and complete scheduled work hours.Perform other related duties as required and assigned.SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education & certifications :
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent
Field of Study : Diesel Technology or Business
CDL A
Experience :
Previous experience in Diesel Technology and Repair is required
Previous management experience in a truck / trailer maintenance shop is required
Computer Skills :
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Experience with TMT and TMW software helpful. Must be able to pull reports, understand the information gathered, and provide recommendations based on the data.
