Job Summary:
Serves as a public face of the program, creating and maintaining a positive public image while recruiting and training student-athletes to compete at the highest level possible. Leads and maintains program through recruiting, scouting, scheduling, monitoring academic progress, budget management, and coaching. Carries out all duties and responsibilities assigned by the other areas.
Minimum Required Education:
- Master’s degree or a combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum Required Experience:
- Experience as a coach · Preferred: Experience in higher education
- Preferred: CDL (commercial driver's license) with the passenger endorsement
- Experience as a coach

Essential Job Functions
- Performs and carries out athletic duties including planning, season preparation, meeting all scheduled competitions, and informing student-athletes of requirements.
- Set a high standard in academic excellence, personal integrity, and professional ethics.
- Ensures the effective teaching and instruction of all specific technical skill areas to student-athletes.
- Coach student-athletes in their growth and development with techniques and fundamentals of their position and sports conditioning.
- Develop team and individual strategies to have the greatest chance of winning within the sport, through on-court/field/arena teaching, and instruction.
- Participate in meetings such as convocations, commencement, professional development, and assemblies.
- Maintains work areas, locker rooms, weight rooms, and the field/court/arena as safe and efficient environments.
- Works individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new student athletes for the assigned sport.
- Fields a team that will be competitive within the guidelines set by institutional policies and the NJCAA/NIRA.
- Responsible for successfully managing an annual budget including all necessary fiscal planning.
- Coaches team during competition.
- Schedules team activities, sporting events, team travel, and field/court/arena maintenance.
- Submit all paperwork in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Establishes, maintains, and works within a budget for the assigned sport.
Other Information:
- Security sensitive position.
- May be required to drive the team(s) to events as needed.
- Evening and weekend work required.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
