Job Responsibilities
The PreOp/PACU/Circulator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of pre-operative and post-operative care processes.
This includes:
- Assessing patients' health status and ensuring accurate identification wristbands.
- Verifying operative and informed consents.
- Determining the surgeon and procedure being performed.
- Taking and recording vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedures.
- Initiating IVs and informing patients about the procedure and attending medical staff.
- Assessing patients' condition after surgery has been performed.
- Evaluating all vitals to ensure they are within normal range.
- Logging all findings in patients' files.
- Answering patients' questions and ensuring they are kept comfortable.
- Monitoring patients for condition changes and reporting any changes to the doctor.
- Initiating patient education programs to educate patients and families on procedures and medications.
- Performing intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.
The PreOp/PACU/Circulator will also assist with equipment setup and maintenance, serve as a patient advocate, and maintain a sterile field at all times.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current Texas Nursing License.
- A graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current CPR, ACLS, and BLS certifications.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting or ASC setting.
