Job Description:
USPI Hill Country Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a motivated PreOp/PACU/Circulator to support our surgical team. We have 1 OR room and 3 Procedure rooms, performing outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. The role requires weekdays only, with some early mornings and later evenings.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-operative Duties:
- Assess patients' health status and accuracy of identification wristband
- Evaluate operative and informed consents
- Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
- Take and record vital statistics to ensure readiness for the surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and inform patients about the procedure and attending medical staff
- Post-operative Duties:
- Assess patients' condition after surgery
- Evaluate all vitals and log findings in patients' files
- Answer patients' questions and maintain their comfort
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
- Initiate patient education programs
- Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
- OR Circulating Duties:
- Assist with equipment
- Serve as a patient advocate and ensure patient safety
- Assist with positioning the patient
- Monitor the patient's condition throughout the entire surgical process
- Maintain the sterile field at all times
- Exhibit skillful clinical judgment and assessment skills
- Current Texas Nursing License
- Current CPR, ACLS, and BLS certifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital setting or ASC setting
- Perioperative experience preferred, but not required
