Job Summary
The Representative Payee provides fiduciary support to the Representative Program participants by making sure all monthly financial responsibilities are processed for the clients in a timely manner.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- The Representative Payee must make sure client accounts keep a positive balance, ensuring all client fiscal needs are met on time, throughout the month, while adhering to SSA standards.
Essential Duties:
- Assume responsibility for timely planning and preparation of check processing.
- Issue checks to consumers and vendors on a weekly basis or as needed.
- Provide client balances on a regular basis to program participants.
- Assist program participants with budget reviews and revisions with monthly benefits changes, or upon receiving unexpected expenses.
- Collect and review invoices and/or documentation for check requests (e.g. bills, travel expenses, etc.)
- Collect Bank online SSA/SSI direct deposit report and enter deposits in database in a timely manner.
- Issue ledgers for completion of SSA reports and provide them to the program participants. Assist participants with paperwork pertaining to housing, CalFresh, etc.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be highly motivated and a self-starter. Must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of managing a critical service for low- income people
Self-motivated, flexible, improvises work plan to respond to immediate needs
Outstanding time management skills, with attention to detail, strong decision-making ability and capacity for managing multiple projects at one time
Ability to excel at anticipating and solving problems before they occur and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Representative Payee Program
Familiarity with data and budgeting
Experience:
Previous experience in a fast-paced setting
Experience with homeless, substance abuse and mentally disabled individuals is desirable.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and widely supported internet browsers.
Knowledge and experience of QuickBooks software.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
- Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
