COMPANY OVERVIEW: Hill Country Dermatology was established in November 2001 to serve the citizens of New Braunfels and the surrounding communities. Currently, the practice provides medical, surgical, pediatric and cosmetic dermatological services and is experiencing rapid growth.
BASIC FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Room patients in a warm and inviting manner.
- Efficiently interview patient and enter all pertinent information in the EMR.
- Prepare instruments, trays, and the patient for all surgical procedures.
- Assist providers with surgical procedures.
- Answer phone calls and voice mail directed to the medical staff.
- Send prescriptions by phone and electronically.
- Complete forms for medication prior authorizations.
- Phone patients to provide them with lab and biopsy results.
- Correspond between patient and doctor.
- Keep rooms stocked and clean.
- Wash, sterilize, and repack surgical instruments.
- Schedule surgical appointments.
- Complete and forward patient information for consultations and referrals.
JOB DIMENSIONS – RESPONSIBILITY: The MA will work with two physicians. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a lunch break from 1-2pm.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW PRACTICES: A review is performed at 30, 60, 90 days, and every six months after that.
COMPENSATION REVIEW PLAN: A review for compensation will be performed every year.
SALARY PAY PERIODS: The pay periods are on a biweekly basis.
BENEFITS: After a ninety-day probation period:
Health Insurance: Available through Aetna. The company pays 75% of the insurance premium for the employee.
Vacation (PTO): 2.5 hours accrued per bi-weekly pay period during the first year and will increase at a fixed rate after that.
Holidays Per Year: 8
401K/Retirement Plan: Eligible after one year of employment.
MEDICAL/DRUG TESTING: Pre-employment drug test and background screening will be required of finalist candidates.
ORIENTATION PROCESS FOR NEW HIRE: One on one with our lead MA.
