Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities and Recreation leader to join our team in providing enriching experiences for our residents. The Activities and Recreation leader will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for the youth living at Hill Country Youth Ranch. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate, plan and lead engaging events with children.
The scheduled work days for this position are Tuesday through Saturday. Start and end times will vary based on the residents school, holiday and summer schedules.

Established in 1977, Hill Country Youth Ranch is a non-profit charitable corporation licensed by the Texas Department of Family Protective Services to provide a safe, loving, and life-enhancing Christian environment for children and young adults.
Hill Country Youth Ranch is a faith-based organization and considers every position one of ministry.
Some duties of the activities and recreation leader are:
- Assist in development and implementing engaging activity programs tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Facilitate group activities, ensuring participation from all residents.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess resident preferences and capabilities for activity planning.
- Maintain an organized schedule of events and activities, ensuring all necessary materials are prepared in advance.
- Communicate effectively with residents, caregivers, and other staff to promote upcoming activities and gather feedback.
- Provide support and companionship to residents during activities, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Monitor resident engagement levels during activities and adjust programs as needed to enhance participation.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for the youth in care.
Skills
- Experience in trauma informed care is preferred.
- Well rounded knowledge of recreational equipment, facilities, and activities appropriate for children and teens.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, caregivers, and team members.
- Ability to create a positive atmosphere that encourages social interaction among residents.
- Compassionate approach towards children and youth that are healing from previous trauma and/or abuse.
- Must be physically capable of supervising and participating in athletic activities
- Must be capable of carrying and moving athletic equipment, devices and supplies of up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to successfully complete the requirements to become a certified lifeguard or have current lifeguard certification.
Job requirements:
*Must be 21 or older.
*Must have valid Texas driver's license.
*Must complete The Diana Screen®.
*Must pass criminal background checks and drug screen.
*Must have current TB (tuberculosis) screening or obtain new one.
*Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
