Job Description:
The Compliance and Privacy Specialist (CPS) assists with the Compliance and Privacy Program Elements. The CPS provides support to the Senior Manager Corporate Compliance and Privacy gathering and maintaining information for the required elements of a compliance and privacy program and maintains timely and accurate internal and external compliance communications. Additionally, will maintain clear and concise detail-level supporting documentation of departmental projects and corporate projects that impact the department in an orderly fashion. The CPS assists staff with representing Compliance in cross-functional projects or Health Plan audits, participating in meetings with other departments on Compliance and Privacy matters.
Essential Responsibilities:
Corporate Compliance and Privacy
- Assist the Senior Manager of Corporate Compliance and Privacy with the Compliance and Privacy Program Elements.
- Assists with preparing materials for the Compliance and Privacy Program.
- Assists with Compliance and Privacy department policies and procedures annually and current reviews.
- Research complex inquiries to identify regulatory or agreement requirements.
- Perform other Compliance or Privacy activities as assigned.
Compliance
- Assist the Senior Manager of Corporate Compliance and Privacy with the Compliance Program.
- Assist with preparing materials for the Compliance Program.
- Assist with Compliance Department Policies and Procedures reviews.
- Update comparison of Regulatory Compliance Letter Templates.
- Update and maintain Compliance Tools including but not limited to GRC SAI360 Compliance incidents Manager Module and the Audit Management Module for Health Plan External Audits/SharePoint/Data Bases/Excels and prepare requested reports. Assist with structure and organizations of files and folders.
- Participate with updating, reviewing, and maintaining Compliance Op/Playbooks and Training timely.
- Cross train and be proficient in compliance delegation functions.
- Perform tasks for health plan audits for the Compliance Office, including case files, policy and procedures, attestations, questionnaires, and other material as requested.
- Assists with coverage and perform other Compliance duties as assigned.
Privacy
- Assist the Senior Manager of Corporate Compliance and Privacy with the Privacy Program.
- Conduct investigations of potential privacy incidents. Processes include but not limited to initial intake of report, categorization/organization of internal folder systems, investigation of incident, completion of a risk assessment, response, reporting, escalation, documentation, tracking, trending, and reporting. Perform all Privacy assignments and requests timely and accurately utilizing HPMG Tools. Utilization of GRC Tool, SAI360 Privacy Incident Manager Module.
- Assists with preparing materials for the Privacy Program.
- Assist with Privacy department policies and procedures reviews.
- Assist with preparing, updating, and maintaining materials for meetings including but not limited to agendas, minutes, and presentations.
- Cross train and be proficient in compliance delegation functions.
- Research complex inquiries to identify regulatory or agreement requirements.
- Assists with coverage and perform other Privacy duties as assigned.
- Complete a personal goal to enhance skills to meet departmental initiatives.
Skills and Experience Required:
- BS Required
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- CHC Compliance Certification Preferred
- CHCP Compliance Privacy Certification Preferred
- Minimum years of healthcare professional experience required – 3-5.
- Comprehensive understanding of Compliance Program 7 element requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of PHI/HIPAA guidelines.
- Strong analytic skills and critical thinking.
- Strong skills in software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, and Outlook.
- Strong oral, written, reading comprehension, organizational, research, and negotiation skills.
- Prefer a strong understanding of Hill Guidelines and other department processes.
- Prefer familiarity with key software/systems used by the department including, but not limited to Workday, SharePoint, PRISM, Salesforce, and Epic.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and problem solve under the pressure of deadlines and resource constraints.
- Ability to work well with business and technical staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Additional Information:
Salary: $75,000 - $97,000 Annual
