About the Program:
Hill Top’s summer programs are designed to empower neurodiverse youth through experiential learning, skill development, and social connection.
Position Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and supportive individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors at Hill Top’s Summer Camp. In this role, you will guide and engage neurodiverse campers through daily activities, outings, and special events while encouraging social interaction, independence, and confidence. Counselors play a key role in building relationships, modeling positive behaviors, and helping campers navigate challenges in a supportive and structured setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help lead and participate in daily camp activities in one specific area: arts and crafts, STEM, swimming, cooking, or outdoors activities.
- Provide consistent support, encouragement, and supervision to neurodiverse campers throughout the camp day.
- Help create an inclusive and respectful culture that celebrates individual strengths and fosters peer connection.
- Assist campers in following routines and transitions, using visual supports, reminders, and prompts when needed.
- Work collaboratively with the camp team, including emotional support clinicians and program staff, to address camper needs and ensure safety.
- Participate in staff training and check-ins to learn best practices for supporting neurodiverse youth.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating empathy, flexibility, and clear communication.
- Support one-on-one or small group camper needs when directed by clinical or leadership staff.
Qualifications:
- Current college students or recent graduates in education, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, recreation, or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with children or youth, especially in camp, school, or recreational settings.
- Enthusiasm for learning how to support neurodiverse individuals with care, respect, and creativity.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive, proactive attitude.
- FBI background check, Pennsylvania State Police criminal record check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and fingerprinting is required (or willingness to obtain before the program start date).
Schedule:
Camp runs from June 23rd to August 1st. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:45am to 3:45pm.
Potential Training days may be needed prior to camp and will be scheduled in advance.
Compensation:
This is a seasonal position. Pay is $3,500 for the full program.
