Lead Warehouse Operator
Shipping & Receiving Working Site LEAD
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for the daily operations of the site’s shipping and receiving. The purpose of this role is to ensure loads inbound/outbound are loaded/unloaded properly to avoid damage/loss. Physically monitoring of employees loading/unloading, both on the floor and verifying paperwork is completed correctly.
Essential Job Functions
- Workload Management/Scheduling
- Inventory Management (working with Inventory Staff & Site Staff to ensure accuracy)
- Julian Date Rotation (Shipping/Receiving dates according to Hillandale/Customer specs)
- Hands-On w/Employees - Training, Hiring, Discipline. Ensuring Employee’s follow Hillandale policy/procedures (Equipment Training, Attendance Compliance, Load/Order Training), while also cross-training employees and accountability
- Ensuring load documentation is completed daily and accurately and ensuring that this process is completed every day.
- Coaching/Mentoring Employee’s - especially working with Lead to foster a Teamwork environment
- Shipping/Receiving Operational improvement of assigned Site
- Ensuring loads inbound/outbound are loaded/unloaded properly to avoid damage/loss. This requires constant physical monitoring of employees loading/unloading - both on the floor - and verifying paperwork is completed correctly.
- Physically checking yard/lot for trailers and trailer operating temperature to ensure that product is kept at appropriate temperature and resolving any issues that may come up during yard checks.
- Candidate WILL assist Loading/Unloading
- Overall Staffing/Man Hours of assigned Site
- Work with other Site Managers/Supervisors/Leads & Sr. Management
- Multi-Site Operation
Qualifications/Skills
- MUST be able to work Open (approx. 30 minutes before employees) to Close (approx. 30 minutes after employees). All Shipping/Receiving loads completed for the day.
- Efficient w/ Computers; Microsoft Products (Excel, Outlook, Word), Adobe (PDF Viewer), Document Scanning & Saving.
- Read, Write, & Communicate Fluently in English (Bilingual a plus)
- Prior Experience in Shipping and Receiving Management Role would be beneficial
- MUST be available for Weekend and Holiday shifts
- Communication – must be excellent at communication both verbally and in writing via – Email, Text, Visual (large portion of communication between Managers/Leads/Supervisors is completed via Cell Phone/Texting)
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Problem Solver – Ability to make decisions based on the needs of the day. Each day is different and poses unique challenges. Ability to make quick decisions (movement of staff, loads, trailers, product) to improve the efficient operation and reduction in overall man hours.
- Understand and adhere to established safety protocols, participate in training on biosecurity procedures, and maintain awareness regarding potential risks in your work environment.
