Your Responsibilities
As a Adolescent Residential Treatment Counselor, your primary responsibilities include providing therapy and counseling portions of the treatment program for adolescent residential education clients. In addition, you will be:
- Meeting with clients in individual counseling sessions
- Facilitating weekly group counseling sessions
- Maintaining a complete and updated clinical record for each client, making all efforts to obtain all pertinent clinical, medical, educational and legal reports, meeting all standards and policies
- Attends school conferences, re-entry meetings or other scheduled school meetings
- Providing case management services, including responsibility for scheduling and facilitating client staffings
- Responsible for authoring psycho-social assessment, admission, and progress staffings and discharge summaries on a timely basis
What You Need
- BSW or BA from an accredited school in a social sciences program. Master Degree is preferred in a related field
- Grounded in an understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation of children and adolescents
- Competencies in the delivery of evidence based individual, group, and family services
- Mentoring, teaching, and coaching skills in order to provide information, education, support, direction and oversight of children and youth with a mental health diagnosis and their families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills
