Resident Manager Position Summary
Position is an unpaid, volunteer live-in position located at one of our transitional housing campuses in the Kansas City Metro Area.
The Hillcrest Transitional Housing team is committed to moving individuals, youth and families from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The Resident Manager is a volunteer position and must be a community advocate for our organization, our residents, and those in need of our services. Resident Managers must be committed to the support, respect, and encouragement of program participants. The Resident Manager creates a safe, comfortable living environment, which builds self-esteem, teaches respect for property to all residents. Resident Mangers will conduct themselves and their personal lives as an example to residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Participates in staff meetings and daily communication with the Case Manager.
· Develops schedule in partnership with other staff to insure coverage and staff presence and/or availability to residents at all times.
· Working directly with clients of Hillcrest by scheduling weekly Community Living Meetings and monitoring resident’s ability to comply with established Hillcrest Program Rules.
· Conduct weekly apartment inspections and report to the Case Manager.
· Conduct move-in and move-out inspections and reports to the Case Manager.
· Maintain and organize the on-site food pantry.
· Answering phones and interacting with the community.
· Data entry for Hillcrest systems (adding client data & services received, updating waiting lists and call logs).
· Informs Case Manager of physical damage or maintenance needs of property. Maintains cleanliness and minor maintenance of all areas of the house and yard and property.
· Performs minor repairs when needed with approval
· Assist with back-to-school drives and Christmas adoption.
· Assist with apartment sponsor meetings.
· Work directly with volunteers and supporters of Hillcrest.
· Representing Hillcrest with clients, donors, and community partners.
· Serve in other duties, roles, responsibilities as needed by the organization to fulfill its mission
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· Familiar with basic repair, maintenance and home improvement skills.
· Ability to live onsite at a Hillcrest Transitional Housing campus.
· Maintain a clean, alcohol, drug, and violence free apartment.
· Donate $100.00 per month to Hillcrest to cover utility costs of apartment.
· Volunteer a minimum of 20-hours per week conducting the Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
· Knowledge of working with vulnerable populations.
· Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, confidential and thorough manner.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Hillcrest.
· Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
· Strong attention to detail and experience balancing ongoing projects with one-time requests.
· Comfortable in networking and public speaking.
· Familiarity with Windows, Office, Google Drive, and Gmail.
· Ability to travel to Hillcrest sites throughout the Kansas City metro area.
· Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Any adults over age 18 joining the volunteer in the household must do the same. In the event you are unable to perform the functions of this position, you will be required to immediately vacate the Hillcrest property.
