Pianist

Hillcrest United Methodist Church is seeking to fill our staff pianist role. Hillcrest is conveniently located in south Nashville just off Nolensville Road and Tusculum Road. Responsibilities for the position are as follows:

• Provide musical accompaniment on piano/keyboard for all church services and music rehearsals
• Work with the Minister of Music and/or Pastor to select piano/keyboard music for services and special music as needed
• Attend Wednesday night choir rehearsals 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Attend Sunday morning rehearsals and service 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
• For Sunday morning services, provide piano music including prelude, hymn accompaniment, service music, offertory, anthem, benediction, and special music as needed
• For Wednesday night choir rehearsals, provide piano accompaniment, including playing choral parts and accompaniment and sight-reading choral parts and scores as needed
• Work with guest musicians and special music services as needed

Qualification & Skills:

• High-level proficiency in piano/keyboard, including the ability to play in a wide range of musical styles, including hymns, traditional church repertoire, and contemporary music
• Strong sight-reading ability
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Reliability and flexibility
• Proficiency in organ or other instrument(s) is a plus
